The University of Louisville will begin their quest in Omaha, Nebraska for a College Baseball National Championship on Saturday at 8pm against arch-rival Vanderbilt on ESPN2. Louisville defeated the Commodores earlier in the season in Nashville, 11-7. They also swept them a year ago in Nashville in the Super Regionals, given them three consecutive wins against the ‘Dores. The most likely pitching matchup in the opening game would be Ace Kyle Funkhouser v Ace Tyler Beede.

This will be the schools second consecutive College World Series appearance and third overall.

The Omaha format takes the same format of the regional rounds in that it’s double elimination style. UC Irvine and Texas fill the other slots of Louisville’s pod. Those two will play each other at 3pm on Saturday. The two winners from Saturday will meet at 8pm on Monday, the two losers at 3pm.

The winner of the double elimination styled series between the four teams will advance to the College World series finals. There a three game series will take place with the first game set for 8 pm on Monday, June 23. The second game scheduled for 8 pm on Tuesday, June 24, while the third and deciding game (if necessary) scheduled for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25.
