I thought it would be interesting to go back and see how the Cards are performing relative to the 2012 in terms of stats and rankings. We found some interesting results, basically: LOUISVILLE FOOTBALL IS MUCH BETTER IN 2013 THAN 2012.
When I measured these categories in August I said that they would improve from 2012 to 2013…..AND that improvement has been MUCH more dramatic than I even anticipated.
8 additional points per game, 77 additional yards, while allowing 13.2 fewer points per game and 96 fewer yards! That is incredible.
Additionally the gains made on special teams (even if they are small) help a great deal. No one is really happy with the current state of the Special Teams, BUT, it is encouraging to see the progress particularly when Punting. What we’ve seen so far out of Louisville Football has been impressive and we will see if these numbers can hold true through the end of the season, but sitting here at the 2nd BYE week and with 5 games remaining in the 2013-14 season I’d say the program is still ‘trending’ in the right direction.
