Continuing his absolutely blazing start to the season, today the Atlantic Coast Conference announced that left-hander Reid Detmers has been awarded with ACC Pitcher of the Week honors. This is Detmers’ second straight week being named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, and this week shares co-honors with Wake Forest’s Jared Shuster.

For the second start in a row, Detmers set a career high in strikeouts and innings pitched while simultaneously tossing a shutout. The sophomore from Chatham, Illinois struck out a whopping 14 batters over a career high 8.0 innings while allowing only 1 hit in his game 1 start against James Madison. By the time he would give up a hit, he had set a career high hitless streak of 14.2 innings, while currently having an active scoreless streak of 15.2 innings. Over his three starts this season, he carries an ERA of 0.45 (2nd in ACC) and a WHIP of .55 (1st in ACC) with 28 strikeouts (14th in nation) and only 5 walks over 20.0 innings pitched.

Barring from a change in the rotation, Detmers is scheduled to make his next start this Friday at 6pm in game 1 of the home series against Boston College. The #8 Louisville Cardinals (8-3) will be back in action Wednesday at 3pm against the Morehead State Eagles (9-1) down at Jim Patterson Stadium. Admission for this game is free.
