-Petrino says that if the season started today that Reggie Bonnafon would be the starter at QB.

-Called Kyle Bolin a ‘great competitor’.

-About Will Gardner “Was playing really well last year, and I felt at one point that ‘Hey we’ve got our offense where it needs to be’….and then he got injured.  So we’ll see how he comes off injury.”

-About Devonte Fields “He’s a great pass ruser. We’ll find out early how much we can use him and how quick he can learn.  Grantham and our defensive staff are great teachers.  We had two players who missed all summer last year who came in and started the opener, he’s got a lot to learn and we’ve got to find out exactly what his skill set is.”

-Talking about the Chick-fil-A Classic Opener vs. Auburn “I really like it. It helps us the entire offseason, in the winter program when we’re getting up early in the morning and it’s cold out and you have to go work hard, lift weights and condition. It helped us in spring ball and then all summer long. To be able to open with an opponent like Auburn in a big game down in Atlanta I think is exciting for our fans. It makes us practice well. We can’t waste one practice during preseason. We’ve got to do a good job every day understand we’ve got to get better and improve and have great competition. I think that’s what I’m fired up about. We’ll have depth and competition at almost every position.”

-Coach Petrino told Joe Schad that he believes that he will finish his career at Louisville and that he has a great chance to win a national championship.

-Petrino further with Schad said that he once scored 33 points in a Montana High School basketball game vs. Jim McElwain.

-Later with Schad on his playcalling: Call plays for players, not because you like the plays.
