With the 193rd pick in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers have selected University of Louisville junior left-handed pitcher Nick Bennett. If he signs, his contract has the potential to be worth up to $244,900, and has until July 15th to do so.

The No. 2 pitcher in the ACC’s best weekend rotation, Bennett is a high-energy guy who is the ultimate definition of a competitor. His 73 strikeouts so far in the 2019 season is good for third on the team, behind only Bobby Miller and ACC Pitcher of the Year Reid Detmers. Sporting an ERA of 4.40 over in 15 starts the season, that mark drastically improves when playing away from Jim Patterson Stadium. In his 5 road/neutral starts, he is 3-1 with an ERA of 2.77, the lowest mark in Louisville’s weekend rotation of starting pitchers. A consensus 2017 freshman All-American, he is 9th on the UofL career wins list with 20 and 9th on the UofL career pitching starts list with 39.
