While it was a very tough game for us Louisville fans, I think there are positives to be taken away from it. First and foremost, Louisville played the #1 defense in the entire country and averaged 5.74 yards per play. While we have been used to 8, 9, and 10 yards per play, 5.74 ypp against such a talented defense is nothing to scoff at. Conversely, while the defense played poorly on paper, I think these numbers were a little skewed. Coming in to the game, Clemson’s offense was ranked #63 in the country due to some minor early season struggles. Common sense tells you a team with Deshaun Watson, Wayne Gallman, etc. is capable of much more than that and it came together last night. As always, let’s take a look at the numbers.
