The University of Louisville Football Program moved to 5-0 for just the 9th time in school history, and are now 1-0 in their 1st and only season in the American Athletic Conference.

The Cards rolled up 525 yards of total offense and dominated the game.  But holding penalties and a lack of execution in the red zone kept the Final score from getting into the 40s or 50s.  Also a late 4th quarter blocked punt led to a quick 26-yard TD with the game well in hand for Temple’s only points.

Louisville’s game could have been costly.  Kamran Joyer was left in Louisville for disciplinary reasons which prompted the staff to go with Nacho Garcia at the Right Guard position.  In the 2nd half Nacho went down with a lower leg injury and missed the rest of the game.  But in the 1st half, the Cards may have suffered their biggest loss when Biletnikoff Award candidate DeVante Parker was lost for the rest of the afternoon with a shoulder injury.  The early reports for Parker are a ‘shoulder sprain’ but an MRI will confirm that on Sunday.

The Cards will have a quick turnaround on Thursday night to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on ESPN.

We will have full coverage of the Temple game following the basketball scrimmage.
