The NCAA selection committee revealed the regionals host sites for the 2019 edition of the NCAA Baseball tournament tonight, and despite losing 5 of their last 8 games, the body of work for the Louisville Cardinals was still strong enough to warrant hosting the opening round of the tournament.

In his 13 years at the helm, head coach Dan McDonnell has made the NCAA Tournament in every year except 2011. Of his 12 trips to the postseason, his teams have hosted the regionals round 8 times. He holds a 28-10 record in the regionals and is 20-3 when hosting, including going 15-0 at home in a 5 year span between 2013 & 2017. In his previous 11 trips to the regionals, he has advanced to the Super Regionals 7 times and has only failed to win a regional as a host once (2010).

The Cards will learn their exact national seed and who they’ll face at Jim Patterson Stadium in the NCAA Baseball Tournament on Monday, May 27th when the Selection Show airs at noon on ESPNU.
