Today marks the five week point for Devante Parker’s surgery on his fractured fifth metatarsal . When the Cardinals face off against Syracuse on Friday, it’ll have been five weeks and four days since he’s been sidelined.  It was an injury and consequent surgery that was expected to keep him out 6-8 weeks.

Parker took off his boot off nearly two week ago, and every indication that has been given by Bobby Petrino has been a positive one. The Head Coach continues to say that Parker has progressed well and is even a little bit ahead of schedule with his treatment. The latest update that we got from Bobby Petrino on Devante Parker came two weeks ago.

“I don’t believe there’s been a change,” Bobby Petrino said when asked about Parker. “He’s a little bit ahead of schedule in terms of getting out of the boot. We’ve missed him. We missed that production. He’s an unbelievable talent.”

This week before the Wake Forest game, Parker was seen in pregame warm ups in jersey and sweatpants gingerly playing catch with Eli Rogers. However a noticeable limp was still present.

There’s no denying that the Louisville offense has faced an array of problems,  getting Devante Parker can only help mask those issues. Situations like this are always ever changing – that even holds more true with a foot injury – but it appears Devante Parker is on course to play against Clemson next week.  I’d suspect we’d get an update on Devante Parker’s status at some point this week as Petrino is scheduled to speak with the media today after practice and on Wednesday’s ACC Teleconference.
