Shock. Disgust. Sympathy.

Guilty or not, these are real feelings and emotions that run through the mind upon hearing today’s news.

The legal process will play out and ultimately decide the innocence or guilt of Chris Jones. However, regardless of the outcome, we can all agree – there is no place in sports, or school, or not school, or in any community for this.  Sexual, physical and verbal abuse seems to be looming large in sports this year.  Ray Rice, Vanderbilt, Penn State the list goes on.  I can’t say without research if these types of crimes are on the rise, or if we are more exposed to the news with the explosion of new media.  Our initial repulsion of hearing things like this are real.

Whether he is guilty or not doesn’t stop us from making a positive impact on the community. Good folks like you help causes like this everyday already.  It helps make the community what it is.  There are crisis centers filled with people who selflessly put themselves into the fire of traumatic situations to help people put their life back together.  If the news today has you wanting to pitch in – here are some options.

There are plenty others I am sure that could use the community’s help – and certainly plenty of other of worthy causes.  I just thought @CardChick posed a productive way to handle today’s news while we wait for all the facts to come out.
